Alex is a designer, researcher, maker, and explorer of wild spaces. He is focused on project systems modeling, long-term strategic planning, and organizational development. 

Alex brings a diverse background of ecology research, art production, and wilderness education. He has a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota; Grad. Certificate in Natural Resource Management from James Cook University, Australia; and Bachelor’s in Studio Arts from Carleton College. He is an expert on future social-ecological systems, environmental uncertainty and risk, community resiliency, and transitions. He has experience working with and living in remote communities in the United States, Canada, Peru, Australia, and Sri Lanka.

Chris Tallman

Partner | cofounder

Chris is a designer, builder, teacher, and researcher working across disciplines. He is focused on cooperative problem identification, community-driven design responses, and collaborative vision communication.

Chris brings a lifetime of design, building, and client service to this work. He has owned and operated traditional timber construction companies and has taught throughout the United States and Canada. He has completed graduate studies in architecture and landscape architecture and holds bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Design and Architecture from the University of Minnesota. He is an expert on design and building-arts education, cross-cultural translation, and multi-scalar design thinking.
